February the month of love! With Valentine’s Day around the corner here are some creative yet healthy tips to celebrate with your loved one.

Tip 1: Ditch the heart shaped box of assorted chocolates.

It’s so cliché and a bit boring. Instead tickle your partner’s taste buds with the delicacy that is dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants. Antioxidants are known to help prevent certain types of cancer.  Although it is bitter at first, there is a nice subtle sweetness to dark chocolate. This new sensation can be really exciting and inciting….

Tip 2: Ditch the flowers.

Do you know what your lover’s favorite flower is? Chances are it’s not red roses or carnations! Flowers are pretty for a week or two but then they die… Do you really want that to be a symbol of your love? This year why not try something unique. Buy a bouquet of edible arrangements. Edible Arrangements are bouquets made up of fruits like pineapple and melons that are into nice shapes.  With Edible Arrangements you can give your partner or a friend a bouquet of fruits instead of flowers. It shows that you put some thought into their gift instead of just buying a random bouquet of flowers last minute.(Bonus tip: you can even make try to make the flower bouquet yourself or together!)

Tip 3: A couple that cooks together….

Instead of going to a restaurant how about taking a cooking class. This fun activity can be a great opportunity to bond with someone. You also get to better control your portion size and the amount of salt and fat in your meal. Remember a diet high in salt can lead to hypertension and can cause problems with your heart later on in life.

This isn’t the greatest wine or the fanciest… But I like to pretend I’m an Aussie when I drink it!

Tip 4: Have a little sippy sip!

You want to make sure you actually remember this special day. So make sure if you are drinking alcoholic beverage you are doing so in moderation. I would say go for a nice cup of red wine instead of hard liquor. Red wine has reservatol which can help prevent heart disease. You know what they say a glass of red wine a day keeps the cardiologist away. (Well they don’t really say that. LoL).

Let yourself be free and dance with your Valentine like this lady!

Tip 5: K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid/Silly)

Remember Valentine’s Day is the day of love. You can celebrate with your romantic partner, family members, friends; or even yourself!  Don’t feel pressured to go out to eat at a fancy restaurant. You can always go out and do activity like painting, dancing, etc. The possibilities are endless! Just remember that simple at times is better and that none of this is worth it unless you are enjoying yourself!

So what are your Valentine’s Day plans? Are you going to have a Galentine’s Day? What about a Broentine’s Day? Have any traditions? Feel free to least us know in the comments below!

Until next time,
